Sustainability has long been more than just a trend - it's an expression of social responsibility. We at Jöst GmbH are also committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly action. At our site in Wald-Michelbach in the Odenwald, we develop products to the highest environmental standards and rely on an almost self-sufficient energy supply. Protecting nature and resources is just as important to us as treating employees, customers, suppliers and society fairly. We pursue a holistic approach in line with the United Nations' global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) In addition to ecological and social aspects, this also addresses responsible corporate governance.
As a non-reporting company, we focus specifically on the interests of our stakeholders and attach particular importance to transparency - also with regard to the challenges we encounter along the way. Our commitment drives us to make an active contribution to a more sustainable and fairer future - and to set a positive example in the Small to Midsize Enterprise (SME) sector.

Experience meets progress - for sustainable solutions
Since our company was founded in 1981, we've been continuously working on enhancing our range of abrasives – and we can look back on many successful innovations and patent applications. Innovation, new procedures and high-quality requirements are essential components of our corporate culture. Our primary goal is to offer our customers products and systems of first-class quality and maximum benefit. We see our particular added value in recognizing and understanding our customers' requirements before problems arise and offering an individual solution.
Environmentally conscious and energy efficient
At our sites, we use renewable energies and state-of-the-art technology to promote energy self-sufficiency and climate protection. Our site in Abtsteinach is 90% energy self-sufficient - thanks to photovoltaic systems, a wind turbine, battery storage, heat pumps and infrared heating. Electric charging stations at both locations support electromobility. We consistently focus on renewable energies and aim to use green energy completely in the medium term. Moving away from fossil fuels is essential for us.
Commitment to nature and society
We are actively committed to nature conservation and social responsibility: as a partner of BeeFuture, we support bee populations with our own beehives and maintain an insect meadow and fruit trees on our premises. Alpacas help us to maintain the lawn in an environmentally friendly way. School classes learn a lot about nature and honey production with us. We also look after a "fish sanctuary" and keep chickens, goats and sheep.

We at Jöst GmbH have received several awards for our commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability. As an active member of the ETA-Plus Südhessen network, we are working with other companies to promote greater energy efficiency and climate protection in the region. We're particularly proud of our nomination for the Hessian State Prize for Innovative Energy Solutions - we came second in the "System Integration" category with our project for climate-neutral abrasives production". Our commitment is complemented by various quality and safety certifications, all of which prove that we work to the highest standards. These awards confirm our continuous striving for progress – from quality and innovation to climate protection.
Climate-neutral abrasives production
We, the company Jöst GmbH, were nominated as a finalist for the Hessian State Prize for Energy with the project "The path to a climate-neutral site for the production of abrasives and abrasive systems". We took 2nd place in the "System Integration" category.
Our commitment to education and community
As a donor to the Strahlemann Foundation, we are proud to support children and young people around the world in their education, enabling them to have independent and attractive opportunities for the future. Whether in India, Portugal or Haiti – we are happy to help improve their future. We also regularly support local associations and institutions – in line with our motto, "A little help goes a long way."
