"This is an ambitious goal, but we will achieve it together," says Niclas Wenz from the Business and Location team of the Darmstadt Rhine-Main Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). He is in charge of the ETA-Plus Südhessen network for energy efficiency and climate protection. In this network, small and medium-sized companies from the region show what they're already doing in terms of climate protection and how other companies can benefit from this experience. "Hessian industry has already largely implemented the easy-to-implement climate protection measures – now it's time to tackle the challenges that require more effort. With the new IHK network ETA-Plus Südhessen for energy efficiency and climate protection, we're supporting companies by enabling them to learn from good examples," adds Wenz. More than 20 companies from the region took part in the official founding meeting at the IHK Darmstadt. They presented the savings target for the next two years on an oversized check.
The current emissions balance of the Hessian Ministry of the Environment shows that no other sector in the federal state has reduced the percentage of its CO2 emissions as much as our industry has since 1990. Wenz emphasizes: "We've already had very good experiences with the predecessor network and have implemented over 50 measures for energy efficiency and climate protection in the network over the past five years. We've received a positive response nationwide and far exceeded our initial expectations."
One new feature is a platform-based website on which companies outside the network can also post good examples of energy efficiency and climate protection. This means that these measures will also be made available to a wide audience online at eta-plus-suedhessen.de. 1Photo: Klaus Mai/IHK Darmstadt, IHK ETA-Plus Südhessen foundation meeting. 1Foto: Klaus Mai/IHK Darmstadt, IHK ETA-Plus Südhessen Gründungstreffen.
